Business Basics

8  Starting a Small Business

Focused primarily on the individual just starting a small or home-based business. You will get off to a good start as your learn about all the necessary steps in launching your company.

 

You'll learn to:

  • Select your business name & type of entity

  • Register your company with government agencies

  • Establish a home office deduction

  • Use your automobile for business

  • Determine travel deductions

  • Ascertain what are business deductions

  • Make estimated tax payments if needed and when

  • Determine local taxes and licenses affecting your business

  • Hire employees or sub-contractors—1099s or W-2

  • Plus 8 more "must-do's" to create a profitable business

Prerequisites

You will need a basic understanding of the Internet. You will need to bring your own laptop with a wireless Internet connection, or call us about renting a computer.

Registration limited to first 15 students.

One-half day—Four hours, 9 am to 1 pm OR 1 to 5 pm
